Elaina is a Type 2 diabetic whose blood sugars are completely controlled with a high fat, moderate protein ketogenic diet: no medications, and no complications! She lives in Las Vegas and is a housewife who enjoys RV living.
As a pre teen, Elaina was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue and Epstein Barr Syndrome after contracting mono twice. She suffered from a suppressed immune system, and was in and out of the hospital regularly. At 13 she started suffering from intense pain and spent many nights in the Emergency Room being treated for pain. This resulted in a lot of lost weight, which was from starvation due to her poor physical condition, and was falsely accused of eating disorders. It took 2 years for the medical professionals to properly diagnose her as having severe and multiple gallstones. She was admitted to the hospital immediately, and scheduled for emergency surgery the next day.
The surgery was a success, and once Elaina was no longer in pain and able to eat food again she started binge eating, and gained weight rapidly. At one point during her teen years, she remembers weighing in at 270 pounds.
After so much medical trauma, Elaina began self-medicating and headed down a path of addiction. She didn’t care about her food choices, and lived off sugar and bad decisions, where a cycle of drugs followed by binge eating became a regular thing. She would turn to sugar when times were tough.
The signs and symptoms of diabetes were obvious, but Elaina put off going to the doctor for years. Finally, at 24, she went in and was diagnosed a full-blown Type 2 diabetic. For 6 years she let her diabetes rage completely out of control. With it came a plethora of other medical conditions: Candida, multiple skin, ear, and sinus infections, and a full year suffering from MRSA.
At 30, Elaina had enough! She was suffering physically, mentally, and emotionally. It was time for a choice: to make some changes and live, or continue on the path that would lead to premature death. She decided to start checking her blood sugar, and was stunned when the first test registered over 400. She resolved to begin walking daily, stop smoking cigarettes, and monitor her blood sugar closely. Even though she followed through with those resolutions, her blood sugar was consistently high, always over 300.
Elaina turned to the internet and social media to find more natural solutions to diabetes control. Then she discovered keto, and jumped right in! Her blood sugar, weight, and overall well-being rapidly improved. Ketogenic living alone allowed her to normalize her blood sugar, lose 100 pounds, and gain a very positive focus in life!
Since beginning Keto, Elaina no longer suffers from Chronic Fatigue, and her immune system has greatly improved. Epstein Barr Syndrome and infections are all things of the past! Even without her gallbladder this high fat way of living has healed her mind, body, and spirit.
Elaina has been dedicated to the Ketogenic way of life for well over 2 years now. Her blood sugar is consistently under 100, and she is the healthiest she has been her whole life. As a Ketogenic Lifestyle Coach, her focus is on helping others overcome the struggles of weight, addiction, and diabetes. Living Keto and helping others do so as well, has become her life's work and greatest passion.
